Waste to Land Services from 3R Biorecovery
Liquid and solid waste can still be spread to land under an exemption form the Environment Agency (EA). To do this an exemption or deployment needs to be registered with the relevant authorities. If the material is to be spread to agricultural land or restoration a statement of benefit must be prepared to prove that there is benefit of the material being used. Especially with liquids careful management and placement is required to ensure that material is spread at the right time of year and that diffuse pollution is controlled.
It is still a useful way of handling either materials with high ash contents or materials with a low calorific value, as many biogas plants do not want to handle lots of very liquid by products and waste as they end up having to spread this material to land as digestate.
