Industrial Biomass Services
Burning lignin-based biomass is now commonplace throughout the UK. It has been driven by incentive regimes such as the renewable heat incentive (RHI). These plants generate heat for industrial processes and in some cases drive steam turbines and produce heat and power. The supply chain of waste wood and lignin-based biomass is well established. There are different types of plant that burn different grades of wood, from virgin timber and pellets all the way through to highly contaminated waste wood streams that have contamination that requires a much higher flue gas clean up system to handle the material. The supply chain for lignin-based feedstocks is well established with multiple plants throughout the UK.
These plants also produce by products such as ash and gypsum, these if clean can be utilised as fertilisers in the agricultural sector or to land restoration.
