Industrial Biogas
Industrial biogas plants are now relatively common in the UK. The technology is well tried and tested and is a good way of getting energy out of organic waste streams. There are different types of plants Agri plants, processing purpose grown plants or agri by products such as slurry and manure Commercial waste plants processing food waste and many can handle packaged food wastes and categoty 2 and 3 animal by products On site waste treatment, these plants are built on industrial premises to treat specific waste water and organic streams providing heat and power back to a factory or process.
The majority of these plants are subsidised for the green heat and energy they produce. These incentives help to subsidise the cost of running these plants. Well sought after clean organic waste streams have become more valuable with the proliferation of biogas plants. Feedstocks can potentially have a value if the gas yield is high enough.
